MPRA By-Laws
On Tuesday, March 8, after
proper notice was given to all voting members of MPRA, a meeting of the
membership was held at the Hilton at the Ballpark, St. Louis, Missouri. Upon
establishment of a quorum, the proposed amendments to the MPRA By-Laws were
approved by a written ballot vote, 141-2. A summary of the changes was posted
to the website 30 days prior to the vote, and was otherwise available during
that time.
The amended By-Laws are

THE MARCH
2011 REPORT
FROM THE
PRESIDENT
OF MPRA
MPRA 2011-2012
Board Retreat
Last year, the Board of Directors and associated volunteers
met to re-visit the Strategic Plan of 2006, and to verify and/or re-set the
directional signals for MPRA going forward.
The group found this to be a very useful exercise that has provided
increased accountability for the Board and for staff during 2010-2011. The establishment of goals and objectives
will help in budget development, the establishment of new education and legislative
priorities, and set the tone for the next year – and beyond.
The 2011-12 Board Retreat has been set for Friday, April 29
in Columbia. All Board members, Committee leaders and
Liaisons will be encouraged to attend.
If any member of MPRA would like to participate in this exercise, please
just let the office know and you will also be welcome!

Eat
Wings. Raise
Funds. The MPRA Aquatics Section has organized an
"Eat Wings. Raise Funds." event at select Buffalo Wild Wings locations on April
27th. Make plans to eat some wings that night! Please click
here to view
and print a flyer. Bring this flyer with you to the participating locations and

| Brian
Schaffer,
Conference
Chair
|
By
now, we
have returned
to our communities,
back into
the daily
routine
of our jobs
and rejuvenated
by attending
the annual
MPRA conference.
This year’s
conference
was a success
on many
levels thanks
in part
to you -
the conference
delegates,
the planning
of the conference
committee
and the
generosity
of our sponsors.
Conference
would not
be possible
without
our GREAT
sponsors!
Please
thank them
and consider
them for
your facility’s
needs.
To
everyone
THANK
YOU for
attending
and participating!
Conference
attendees
were given
the opportunity
to socialize
with over
30 exhibitors
at Busch
Stadium
for our
first ever
Tuesday
night mini
expo and
fireworks
display
and over
90 exhibitors
displayed
their wares
at the Wednesday
Expo Hall.
60+ educational
sessions
addressed
relevant
topics that
we deal
with on
a regular
basis. The
social and
silent auction
was a great
success.
How about
those taters?
Several
organizations
and individuals
were honored
for their
tireless
efforts
and support
given to
the parks
and recreation
field. We
congratulate
the newest
members
of the Hall
of Fame,
Fellow Award
recipient
Teresa Proebsting,
Associate
Fellow Award
recipient
Nikki Thole
Buechler,
and all
award recipients.
These individuals
are true
inspirations
for all
and continue
to be leaders
and mentors
in the parks
and recreation
field.
The
conference
committee
worked hard
to bring
you the
best conference
experience
imaginable.
We hope
we exceeded
your expectations.
Again, we
thank you
for attending
the conference
and we look
forward
to seeing
you at next
year’s conference
at the Lodge
of Four
Seasons
in Osage
Beach, MO;
February
28-March
2, 2012.
Congratulations,
City of
Branson! The
2011 Auction
Committee
challenged
each MPRA
Public Agency
to bring
in a great
basket for
the Silent
Auction.
The Agency
whose basket
received
the highest
bid was
the City
of Branson.
We are happy
to announce
that they
will receive
a VISA gift
card for
their winning
basket (which
received
a bid of
$280).
Drum-roll please..... We
are proud
to announce
that with
all the
wonderful
donations
received
for this
year's auction,
we raised
almost $8,000
that will
contribute
to the mission
of MPRA.
Thank
you all
SO MUCH
for your
auction
items! And
thank you,
auction
committee,
for a job
well-done!!
